EL CALAFATE patagonia
El Calafate is located in the southwest corner of the province, at the bottom of the Andes and on the south shore of Lake Argentino. It was named after a typical bush of the area, known by its delicious fruits and its thorned branches.
The village, also known as the “Captial of the Glaciers”, is the starting point to visit Los Glaciares National Park, its forest, lakes and its best known character: Perito Moreno Glacier.
The climate is the ideal partner for this wonderful place. Due to its location, its climate is cold and dry. In summer mean temperatures reach 18.6º C, while in winter desdend to -1.8ºC.
The village counts with an international airport that connects it with Buenos Aires, Ushuaia, Trelew, Puerto Madryn, Bariloche and Río Gallegos, among other cities.
